Folio, loose plates, measuring approximately 12" x 18," and, as a set of 12, removed from the entire portfolio, which bulks out to 48 plates (as cited in the accessioned entry in the Bibliotheque Nationale). These are, simply, some of the most graphically arresting images generated in any trade catalogue of the nineteenth century, beautifully and carefully made color lithographs of varied apparatus, the printing done by Willaeys, of Paris. Each plate is loosely inserted in appropriate folders, then contained in a board portfolio. Carefully framed, each will present remarkably for public display. With some four decades, more or less, of specialized commerce in trade catalogues, and many thousands appraised, and thousands more sold, I have never seen any such resembling this most unusual cache. NOT LISTED IN ANY OF THE STANDARD TRADE CATALOGUE REFERENCES. NOT IN WHEELER GIFT CATALOGUE.
