Top fore-edge corner of free front endpaper has stamp indicating that this volume was not accessioned by a Harvard University library; top edges of free front endpaper and title page have faint former ownership stamp of archaeologist G[eorge]. G[rant]. MacCurdy, who pencilled a few annotations; binding has wear and rubbing; outer edges have soil and foxing; interior has minor wear and foxing, chiefly in margins; interior hinge at back is broken, holding; the leaf and plate grouping following that hinge break (signature consisting of pp. 1055-1056 and plates 10 and 11) have a four-inch separation at bottom of inner hinge, still attached to the text block at top half of the hinge. viii, 1056 p., with many in-text illustrations, 12 plates (some in spectacular color) and a large fold-out map at back, which is partially split at center fold (still intact overall). Large, heavy volume, with interesting provenance. Size: 10 3/16 x 6 5/8 inches [b 305].
