Ecologically speaking, the parklands are the intermediate zone between the prairie grasslands and the coniferous forests. Beginning before 1870, successive incursions of Indians, animals and settlers have wrought change. Plants, soils and waters are also discussed - focusing mainly on Manitoba and Eastern Saskatchewan. 155 pages incl. INDEX. Section of b/w photos at back. 7 page section of references. Fold-out map (Brandon to Edmonton) in intro. Cond : Copper coloured paper wrapper with colour photo of `knob and kettle' (glacial) topography, as cover illus. Edges mostly sharp but corners soft or chipped. Rubbed - esp. near spine. Spine is GOOD + but worn at base. Pages age-toned. No underlining. No names, tears, creases, nor folds.
