VIII, (15) ff. lussuosa legatura coeva in marocchino rosso, con larga bordura a greche e grande titolo su 5 linee in oro ai piatti, dorso a nervetti con fregi neoclassici in oro, tagli dorati. Album superbamente illustrato da 14 tavole (su 24) incise all'acquatinta a colori, tirate ''sur chine'' e ritoccate di vivi colori a mano, e una (Panorama du Bréven) in b/nero più volte ripiegata. Prima edizione di quello che viene giustamente definito «il primo e il più lussuoso album di ?souvenirs? di Chamonix» (Nava T/1), nonché uno dei più rari. Le finissime vedute, delle quali svariate raffigurano il Monte Bianco, furono disegnate, probabilmente anche incise, dal grande Birmann (1793-1847), che nella sua prefazione scrive: ?Les Alpes offrent au regard leurs sommités couvertes de neige et de glaces éternelles . Une force inconnue attire l'homme vers ces régions élevées .C'est quand le voyageur arrive à Servoz que le mont Blanc se présente à ses regards d'une manière grandiose». L'album rimane di notevole pregio, malgrado l'incompletezza, proprio per la sua conservazione a grandi margini entro una legatura di grande bellezza, inusuale in un album alpino. Le tavole presenti, che comprendono quasi tutte le più belle con le cime innevate, sono: Cascade de l'Arpénaz, Four savoyard, Cascade du Bonnant, Cascade de Chède, Environs de Servoz, Glacier des Bossons, Le Prieuré et le Mont-Blanc, La Mer de glace vue du Montanvert, Vue prise du Jardin, Glacier des Bois, la Flégère, Le col de Balme vu de la vallée d'Argentière, Église d'Argentière, Vallée de Chamonix du col de Balme, Panorama du Bréven. Poche fioriture limitate a fogli di testo. Perret 479: «Le plus bel album de ?souvenirs? de la vallée de Chamonix. Cet album est très rare et très recherché par les grands collectionneurs». L'artista è noto soprattutto per l'album ''Souvenirs de la Vallée de Chamonix'', pubblicato nel 1826. Cinque tavole sono state impresse a Zurigo. In fine, una rara veduta di Fribourg, disegnata da Winterlin ed incisa da Vogel. Buon esemplare, con vivida colorazione. . Book.
