Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. London: Printed by J. M. for J. Williams, and are to be sold by Tho. Sawbridge at the Three Flower-de-Luces in Little Britain, 1692. Sixth edition, revised and now more enlarged (pp. [viii], 398). Folio (32 cm) in contemporary full leather Cambridge binding, five raised bands, title in hand-lettered label to spiner; rubricated titles, title page with fleur-de-lis. While acknowledging the earnest scholarship and the clarity of textual exposition (twenty pages on the phrase 'Maker of Heaven and Earth'), it is in the book per se, as a superb example of seventeenth century printing, type-setting and design, that the value of this volume resides: printed in English, Latin, Greek, and Hebrew and often with one language running seamlessly into another; the clean, balanced main text framed by densely set marginalia in various languages; fine black letters used to set the articles of the Creed; the whole of the text arrayed on the large folio pages. Slight worming in one corner not affecting text. A very pleasing copy.
