In this sensational document the full and authentic story of the search for Lasseter's lost reef in the 1930 is told for the first time. Blakely was a leader of the expedition that set out in that year, under Lassester's guidance, to try to find the lost reef. For some years he forbore to write the story; then he hesitated to publish it; and only now ten years after his death, has the manuscript come to light. In the 1930, when Lasseter made his claim, stories of a fabulously rich lost reef in Central Australia had been current for many years, and many expeditions has set out from Alice Springs in search of it. But Lasseter claimed to have been the original discoverer of the reef, which he said he has first deen in 1900. Now, after a gap of thirty years, he was confident that he could relocate it. There were company promoters and investors to share his confidence and finance an elaborate expedition that set out with trucks and an aeroplane.
