In einem theoretischen Teil wird zunachst der EinfluB der Osteo blastenlehre und der Metaplasielehre auf die Hypothesen der Pseud arthrosenentstehung dargestellt und der damit zusammenhangende historische Wandel in der Technik der Pseudarthrosenbehandlung auf gezeigt. Es wird hervorgehoben, daB heute die Frage nicht mehr lautet, welche Schicht des Knochens die praexistierenden Osteoblasten enthalt, sondern unter welchen Bedingungen sich aus einem Pseudarthrosen bindegewe be Osteo blasten differenzieren. Der experimenteUe Teil gibt eine Ubersicht fiber die bisherigen Unter suchungen mit radioaktiven Stoff en am Knochen zur Aufklarung der Callusbildung. 1m AnschluB daran werden die Ergebnisse eigener experi menteller Untersuchungen geschildert, die mit radioaktiven Substanzen in einer der Spananlagerung nach PHEMISTER ahnlichen Versuchsanord nung gewonnen wurden. Danach hat jedes Callusgewebe eine besondere Mfinitat zu radioaktivem Phosphor. Die Konzentration der Radium strahlung laBt einen SchluB auf die Starke der Knochenregeneration zu. Der radioaktive Phosphor aus dem Spantransplantat erreicht den Callus vorwiegend auf dem Blutwege und nicht durch direkte Diffusion. Aus den Experimenten mit radioaktivem Phosphor konnten Hinweise auf die callusbildende Fahigkeit des Transplantates bei der Phemister Spanplastik gewonnen werden. Der klinische Teil enthalt die Technik und die Ergebnisse der Span anlagerung nach PHEMISTER zur Behandlung von verz6gerten Knochen bruchheilungen und Pseudarthrosen und zur Arthrodese bei verschiede nen Gelenkerkrankungen.
