Sein Faible für hohe Türme trug ihm den Namen Turmvater Jahn angelehnt an Turnvater Jahn ein. Jahn erhielt internationale Anerkennung mit spektakulären Bauwerken wie dem Frankfurter Messeturm (19851990), dem Sony Center mit Bahntower am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin (19932000), dem Flughafen Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi (19952005) sowie den Veer Towers in Las Vegas (20062010).
