Audio-CD. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Ein beeindruckendes Album mit neuer Musik von Pianistin/Komponistin Carla Bley, deren Trio mit Andy Sheppard und Steve Swallow nun im 25. Jahr besteht. Die einzelnen Beziehungen der Musiker gehen noch viel weiter zurück: Bassist Swallow nahm 1961 erstmals Musik von Carla auf. Wenn Bley also 'Life Goes On' sagt, wird auf viel Leben angespielt. Das Album, das im Mai 2019 im Auditorio Stelio Molo Studio in Lugano unter der Leitung von Manfred Eicher realisiert wurde, besteht aus drei Suiten. Das Titelstück beginnt als stoischer Blues, zunächst melancholisch, dann hoffnungsvoll. 'Beautiful Telephones', inspiriert von der ersten Beobachtung eines US-Präsidenten beim Betreten des Oval Office, hat viel von Bleys dunklem Witz. Und 'Copycat' erforscht den Begriff von Call and Response auf neue Weise, während die Improvisatoren die Gedanken des anderen fortsetzen. Überall wird Carlas unverwechselbares Klavier mit seinen Noten von Monk und Satie von Swallows eloquenter, eleganter Bassgitarre und Sheppards sehnsüchtigem Saxophon wunderschön umrahmt. Dieses Trio hat einen einzigartigen kollektiven Klang, der - wie The Telegraph kürzlich feststellte - 'musikalische Meisterschaft einer seltenen Ordnung' widerspiegelt.
