The text, which is in French, is wholly unmarked, pristine. , The binding, which is French wraps, shows a bit of wear at the extremities, and the base of the spine has evidently fraying and loss for about one-half inch. Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book imparts a vivid account of the author's experiences aboard a French vessel during a prolonged voyage that took place in the 1870s. Beginning with the vessel's departure from the port of Lorient, the narrative unfolds in engaging chapters that recount the ship's stopovers at various intriguing destinations, including Senegal, the Cape of Good Hope, and the remote islands of Saint Paul and Amsterdam. Among the enthralling encounters detailed in the book are the author's interactions with the indigenous people of New Caledonia and his observations on their culture, traditions, and way of life. By weaving together rich historical context, personal anecdotes, and insightful reflections on the natural world, this book offers a captivating glimpse into a bygone era of maritime exploration and cross-cultural exchange. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

Add to baskethardcover. Condition: fine. first edition.
