Charles "Gus" Dorais wa sthe quarterback of Notre Dame's "Dorais to Rockne" tandem that revolutionized American football's forward pass. He was captain and undefeated starter to ND for four years and was the school's first consensus All-American in 1913. He went on to play professionally in the pre-NFL days, coached at the University of Detroit, and became head coach of the Detroit Lions. He was named to the College Football Hall of fame in 1954, the year of his death.
