The State of Missouri chartered the construction of the Pacific Railroad in 1849; and the first run occurred on December 9, 1852, hence this engraving is of a scene shortly before that date. It is the work of Felix O.C. Darley (artist) and Alfred [aka Albert] Bobbett (engraver), both noteworthy names in the trade at the time. Excised from an otherwise-deteriorated historical publication of 1888 by The Amies Publishing Company. Near Fine; small-scale uneveness at edges. See scan. No printing on reverses. Worthy of framing.
