First his student and then his protégé, Boninsegni eventually succeeded Pareto to the Chair of Political Economy at the University of Lausanne; this is the second of two manuals of political economy which he prepared for his university courses. Boninsegni "simplified the form of Paretian choice in a manner that brought it closer to modern consumer theory. The Paretian period at Lusanne ended with Boninsegni's death" (McLure, p. 101). See M.
