However, the artist for this poster, Mario Borgoni, was a well known Belle Epoque poster make…r. / Mario Borgoni (1869-1936, Italy) was born in Pesaro, Italy. He studied at the Art Institute of Naples (Italy), where he later he taught. He began working with the Richter & Co. printing house in 1900, later becoming its director. He is known for introducing the double-pane layout, by which the picture was divided between a foreground cursive "frame," with the text content at the bottom, and an enclosed background-area carrying the graphic content. Borgoni used this technique for travel and tobacco posters over decades. / This poster has recently been restored and linen-backed. Ready to frame .
