Sehr seltenes Werk mit 48 Kurzbiographien österreichischer Generäle und Feldherren. Der Verfasser Adolph Bornschein war für uns biographisch nicht näher fassbar. Den Zweck des Buches beschreibt er wie folgt: "Jede Kritik ihrer Operationen, und auch nur die sanfteste Berührung dieses Punktes ist weggeblieben, es lag außer meinem Plane. Ich wollte nur den jungen Soldaten einige Bilder zur Nachahmung vorstellen, und wie gesagt: den in bürgerlicher Eintracht lebenden, ein unterhaltendes Lesebuch liefern." (Vorwort V-VI). Es existiert eine titel- und kollationsgleiche Ausgabe, die im selben Jahr mit Angabe des Verlages von Johann Georg Mösle, ebenfalls in Wien, erschienen ist. Gewicht in Gramm: 500.
