Intended to be a 12-volume treatise, but published individually, with publication ceased after the fifth volume, when Kylymnyk unexpectedly passed away. Kylymnyk studied ethnology, ethnography, and philology, and was a scholar of Ukrainian cultural history and folklore; he compiled information on Ukrainian ancient customs and traditions, folklore, songs, games, and worship habits, and compiled the information into these works.
