Corredato di un magnifico antiporta finemente inciso raffig. la Creazione e 7 tavole incise da Gaet. Bianchi più volte ripieg. f.t. raffig. nei particolari e nell'insieme la macchina agricola inventata da Del Borro, un nuovo tipo di aratro meccanico sostenuto, senza troppa fatica, dalle braccia dell'uomo. Prima edizione (e probabilmente unica) di quest'opera di meccanica agraria pratica, che ampiamente descrive ed illustra questo nuovo attrezzo agricolo: "arnese proprio, e necessario per l'agricoltura, mediante l'aiuto del quale un solo bifolco in breve tempo fa movimento, e rovescio maggiore nella terra, di quello facciano più vanghe in egual tempo" (v. pag. 1). La prima parte descrive il progetto e la realizzazione del nuovo aratro; la seconda è una "Raccolta di vari esperimenti e giudizi.sopra la forza, e pratica del gran coltro", cioè una relazione delle prove pratiche a cui fu sottoposto. «L'idea del Borro si rivelò di scarsa efficacia pratica ed ebbe un impiego assai limitato, ma va detto che essa conteneva elementi originali d'indubbia validità, che servirono probabilmente da spunto per la realizzazione del ben più funzionante aratro a coltella francese, con cui quello del nostro autore presenta notevoli analogie» (cfr. Cini, Scienziati aretini dal ?400 al ?700, n. 31). L'autore, d'antica stirpe milanese, nacque a Laterina, Arezzo, nel 1672 e morì nel 1760; pronipote dell'omonimo celebre condottiero del XVII sec., fu anch'egli uomo d'armi e scrittore di meccanica agricola (oltre la presente, scrisse anche "Il carro di Cerere", che è anche il nome della nuova macchina agricola da lui inventata, perfezionando il seminatore ideato dal Lana); fu amico di Muratori nonché promotore della milanese società palatina per la pubblicazione dei "Rerum Italicarum Scriptores" (cfr. Cini, op. cit. e D.B. It., vol. XXVI, p. 366). Di particolare bellezza e finezza grafica le magnifiche tavole, anche in considerazione dell'argomento tecnico trattato, opera di Gaetano Bianchi, noto pittore ed incisore milanese.
