8vo in fours. xi[i], [13]-391pp including subscribers list, errata list to final leaf verso, frontis. Later full calf gilt, modern red calf gilt spine label, marbled leaf-edges. Upper rejoint with repairs to spine head; light spotting to frontis. Sir Robert Johnson Eden's copy with his heraldic bookplate to front paste-down. The… final, and most substantial, edition of the memoir. 'The Count', as he was known, had retired to Durham in 1812 and was accepted into 'society', with many friends throughout the north-east. It was one of these, William Burdon, 'The Hartford House Philosopher'(Welford), who was entrusted to edit this new edition; this he did, but died in 1818 before publication. Included in the work is Burdon's assessment of the character of Boruwlaski, written just two weeks before his death; five members of the Burdon family are included in the subscribers list. Boruwlaski's ODNB entry is extensive and together with Tom Heron's 1986 'Boruwlaski, The Little Count', published in Durham and emphasising the Durham connection, provide a good biographical overview of a well-loved Durham character.
