Marbled boards with red leather spine and corners. Marbled end papers. Gilt top edge. Unevenly cut pages. With 30 tipped-in colour plates after paintings by J.- F. Bouchor and black and white decorative chapter headings and details by David Burnard. 220 editions of this book were produced. 200 were for sale. This book is one of the twenty that were not. It was gifted to The Ministry of The Interior in 1923. Condition: Very Good. There is dark mark along the top edge of almost all of the pages of the book; this being most noticeable at the beginning and the end. One of the coloured plates is creased. The pages are otherwise clean though occasionally faintly darkened at the right hand edge where they have been exposed. There are other small marks of little significance. The binding is tight, the pages un-thumbed. A handsome well made book.
