Les histoires sont composées uniquement de témoignages assemblés, permettant à la fois l'immersion du lecteur et la vraisemblance historique. Chaque auteur a aussi sa part dans les espoirs nationaux et celui de Boudaoud est univoque : la condamnation de la violence et des idéologies qui la légitiment.
