Color frontispiece and illustrated title page. Color and b/w illustrations; narrative poetry. The front board has irregular, faded spots along the front edge. The back board has a faded corner and a linear1 1/2 in., light stain. The spine strip has small, rubbed spots. About forty pages have water stain, mostly on the upper end of the front margin. Hardcover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Folio. Decorative tan paper boards with cloth spine. Mounted photograph of child on front cover. 21pp. A book devoted to the relationship between mother and child with 20 full-page tipped-in photographs on tan craft paper stock. The reverse side of each photographic page has poetry authors including Stevenson, Swinburne, Blake and Boult. The photographs are not atributed but are believed to be by Beatrice Stevens, a book illustrator of the period. Ella M. Boult was born in Medina, Ohio in 1866. After graduating from Cornell in 1888 she worked closely with the writer and editor Edmund Clarence Stedman and through him met many famous artists and authors and edited their work. Very little is known about this book or its authors. WorldCat locates only one copy and that is at the International Center of Photography in New York. It is in good condition with some soiling and scuffing to the boards and some chipping to the corners. The front cover has a stain at the lower left side near the spine. The interior is in very good oondition with some minor wear. The photographs and mats are all in very nice shape with no chips or tears. Scarce. Postage extra.
