Christo and Jeanne-Claude were a pair of artists who designed, coordinated, and funded large-scale environmental art installations. Active since the 1960s, Reichstag Wrapped in 1995 was one of their crowning achievements. Christo described the piece, their physical wrapping in the Reichstag building in a fabric made of aluminum-coated propylene, as autobiographical. He related the wrapping to the reunification of Berlin and the importance of that act to Eastern Europeans. Also, as called for, a tipped-in piece of the white nylon constituting part of the original fence appears between pgs. 68-69. The content is clean as could be, the boards and the Abrams slipcase bordering on immaculate. Thick, oblong quarto, lovely reproductions throughout, including a number of fold-out plates at the rear.
