Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. The management of chronic postoperative pain (CPOP) poses a major challenge for medical teams, particularly due to the complexity of the factors contributing to its onset and the variability in responses to treatment. The objective of our study is to assess the extent to which the practices of anesthesiologists and intensivists in managing CPOP align with clinical practice guidelines, while exploring approaches to prevention and management. Our study is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted over a one-month period in the Sfax region with a sample of 72 anesthesiologists and intensivists.Although the majority of anesthesiologists and intensivists have a general understanding of chronic postoperative pain, certain gaps remain, particularly in the comprehensive identification of risk factors and, more specifically, in the application of optimal treatments. These results highlight the need for continuing education and updates on strategies for the prevention and management of chronic postoperative pain. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Healthcare-associated infections are recognized worldwide as a major public health problem. Due to their frequency, cost, and severity, they are the price we pay for medical progress. Within hospitals, the departments most affected are intensive care units. Surveillance of these infections is a priority, as patients are at higher risk due to their critical condition and the invasive procedures to which they are subjected. To this end, we conducted a retrospective study in the surgical intensive care unit at Habib Bourguiba Hospital in Sfax, with the following objectives: First, to determine the rates of healthcare-associated infections and their characteristics in order to identify priority measures for prevention and treatment. Second, to enable the unit to assess its performance relative to other intensive care units based on various risk factors. In intensive care units, infection control should begin as soon as the patient is admitted. This requires a multidisciplinary approach. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability. …

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Professional practices in anesthesia have seen the emergence of several recommendations from professional societies regarding cardiac risk management. However, disparities in perioperative care persist, leading to increased hospital costs due to the overuse of diagnostic tests and delays in surgical appointments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the practices of Tunisian anesthesiologists and intensivists regarding the perioperative management of patients with coronary artery disease and to assess the extent to which these practices deviate from the recommendations. A self-administered questionnaire was sent to 250 individuals. Disparities exist in the perioperative management of patients at cardiac risk by anesthesiologists and intensivists. This underscores the need for widespread dissemination of the information contained in the guidelines, as well as regular updates through integrated training programs, and underscores the importance of making cardiac risk management algorithms and referral forms for cardiologists available in our anesthesia clinics. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…
