This is the twenty-sixth Volume of the Catalogue of Birds detailing the Plataleae (Ibises and Spoonbills) and Herodiones (Herons and Storks) by Bowdler-Sharp and Steganopodes (Cormorants, Gannets, Frigate-birds, Tropic-birds and Pelicans) Pygopodes (Divers and Grebes) , Alcae (Auks) and Impennes (Penguins) - by Ogilvie-Grant . This original brown cloth publishers binding has gilt titling on the spine. as well as the usual library number marking with a little fading and some shelf wear at the top and bottom. There is some mild wear on the front board with fading and corner scuffing. The boards remain fully attached and there are no loose pages despite a few minor gutter cracks at both front and back boards. The text block is clean with no marks or annotations. On the front inner board there is a presentation plate from the trustees of the British Museum with a university presentation library plate covering this with several other library plates and on the front free end paper is a library borrowing plate and one inked library stamp on the half title page. There is evidence of some brown discolouration of the first few pages. The 8 coloured plates are clean and bright. Cloth covers are a little scuffed and rubbed, and there is a little light wear at spine ends and corners. Hinges (internal) are broke, though loosely holding.
