Shortly after Franklin Roosevelt's election in 1932, William Bullitt undertook a mysterious mission to Europe. Doubt as to his exact status caused much discussion in the newspape…rs and on the Senate floor during the early part of 1933. Senator Robinson asserted, but could not prove, that Bullitt was Roosevelt's emissary, but the facts eventually came out and Robinson was proven to be correct.
