Hardcover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. This VG quality first format book was published in 1914 by Hurst and Company and is 7-7/8" tall with 310 numbered pages of text. This book--one-piece tan binding with black lettering--is a reading copy only. It is heavily soiled, with bumped and fraying corners and head and heel of the spine. The front panel illustration in red, black and blue is heavily soiled but gives a good idea of how splendid this book must have looked when new. Except for a penciled name/address/date on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and page damage of any type; there are numerous small stains in the book but none that hinder reading the text. Both hinges are weak and damaged--rear one is all but detached; text paper is only slightly toned and is very flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis + 3 are present and intact. The only list in the book is on the title page and it lists the second title of this series, also published in 1914. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. It is a reading copy only.
