He remains the only Australian medical officer to have recieved the VC. He later served at Anzac Cove, where he save the lives of 2,000 wounded men. He was knighted three times for his services. As Minister of Health he encouraged medical research, notably cancer research, setting up the world's first radium banks. He died in 1930, a truly great Australian. Size: Octavo. Book.

He volunteered again in 1914 as was Senior Medical Officer at Anzac Cove where he was chiefly responsible for saving the lives of 2000 wounded men during the first three days of the landing alone. After the war he continued in the military medical services and in 1922 entered Parliament. He was knighted three times for his services. Size: 8vo.
