Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 256 pages with illustrations. " This issue continues the Earth geography booklet series by introducing the anima- animus in a rather loose context, and gathering together some of the themes that have developed in other recent issues, most notably: Imago Mundi, regions and locales, and baseball, plus the one issue that was forecast and never done: the oak openings of James Fennemore Cooper. There is a kind of zany and blatant spirit to the whole affair. The informational aspect of some earlier issues is replaced here by a condition that is usually called personal, but can also be called human. As the animus matter goes, the encyclopedic scholar, some may have imagined in the earlier issues is replaced here, in the imagination of those same readers, by a romantic and social figure of questionable taste. He has been there all along.".…

The second and last issue of Joe Brainard's "C Comics," a spinoff of Ted Berrigan's "C, a Journal of Poetry." "C Comics" was notable for Brainard's artistic collaborations with poet friends. In this issue, Brainard has drawn comics for texts supplied by a veritable Who's Who of New York School poets: Frank O'Hara, John Ashbery, Barbara Guest, Bill Berkson, Ron Padgett, Kenward Elmslie, Frank Lima, Kenneth Koch, Peter Schjeldahl, Dick Gallup, Tony Towle, and Brainard himself, with texts of "advertisements" supplied by Jimmy Schuyler. In fact, Brainard drew everything in this massive issue except for "Pat," a collaboration between Berrigan and Brainard. Copies of "C Comics" in such nice condition as this are fairly scarce to the market. CONDITION: A bit of soiling to the wrappers, light toning along the top edge of the front wrapper, and some overall modest handling wear. Internally clean and bright. A Very Good or better copy.…
