First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. This VG- book, the first in the "Five Chums" series, may be a first edition--it has a 1910 inscription on the FFEP and it lists only to the 1908 "Four Boys" title and does not list the March, 1910 title. This book is square, very clean, with lightly bumped corners and heel of the spine, all without fabric damage; the head of the spine, also bumped has very slight fraying. The major exterior flaw of this book is the faded spine (see photo). The interior is in very good condition: other than the inked inscription on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage. Paper is barely toned and is very flexible and not at all brittle; the frontis + 5 is intact and the hinges are strong and not damaged in any way.
