First edition, limited to 100 copies of which this is no. 54. A very impressive and comprehensive work on the most important medieval textiles and embroideries preserved in Sweden. The first volume deals with Swedish works and the second foreign objects. Each item has been carefully described and accompanied by a beautiful illustration, some in colour. Agnes Branting (1862-1930) was a textile artist who became an expert on ancient church tapestries in Sweden. A pristine copy.

Two volumes in publisher's handsome light brown cloth, spines and front covers lettered in gilt, the latter also with gilt ornamentation. Top edges gilt, all other edges trimmed (Herzogs, Stockholm). Spine somewhat darkened, front cover on second volume faded at top. Thank you card from the authors enclosed. A good copy.Printed in 100 numbered copies, of which this is number 22. Volume I treats swedish and volume II foreign works. Richly illustrated also in the text. The swedish standard work on medieval embroidery and tapestries, mainly for the use in churches. A beautifully designed set of volumes.
