Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Memorial card. Measuring 5" x 7". Modest soil and wear, small shallow abrasion (possibly removed from an album) at the top of the verso, very good or better. A memorial card for Edward A. Morrill (died 1881) and his wife Jane (died 1888), with information on the funerals, notable for a lengthy advertising blurb on the verso, castigating the Albany County Undertakers' Association. In part: "Having been an Undertaker in the city of Albany for the past thirty years, conducting my business in my own way, having regard for the circumstances of my patrons as well as my own, till forced by a combination known as the Albany County Undertakers' Association, who by their 'stand and deliver' methods forced me under penalty of losing my business to do the same, I desire to say that I have withdrawn from said Association. You see by the above that I am not bound by this Boss Undertakers' Association or rather a monopoly. I am the only Undertaker who owns his own hearses and the only man who has a sleigh hearse in Albany." An interesting piece of funerary ephemera, taking Albany's Big Undertaking to task.
