A well-indexed selection of the voluminous correspondence of this 17th century royalist, well-travelled horticulturist and contemporary of Pepys; this diary unfortunately (!) lacks the prurience of Pepys', but serves as an accurate record of those turbulent times during and between the reigns of Kings Charles I and II. xxxii, 951 pp., copious editor's footnotes.
