Eine Dichtung der deutschen Wiedergeburt ist ein Ausschnitt aus einem groß angelegten Werk: "Ein Epos des Weltkriegs". In diesem Epos des Weltkriegs werden die Erlebnisse des Helden des Gesanges, "G e r s o n", von Ausbruch des Krieges an bis tief in die Nachkriegszeit hinein geschildert. Diese Erlebnisse bilden nur den Faden, an dem sich in breit angelegter Schilderung die gesamten kulturellen, sozialen, wirtschaftlichen, religiösen und politischen Fragen der Gegenwart mit Ausblick in die Zukunft aneinanderreihen, so daß ein Kulturbild des Weltkrieges entsteht. Das Werk wird noch viele Jahre zu seiner Vollendung brauchen, wenn es je überhaupt vollendet wird. Einen Hauptteil des "Epos" bildet "Der Titanenkampf". In diesem "Titanenkampf" wird der Held des Gesanges gezeigt, wie er mit übermenschlichen Kräften den fast unmöglichen Kampf aufnimmt, um die leitenden Staatsmänner und Finanzmänner Europas auf den Weg zu weisen, der endlich zur wirtschaftlichen Ordnung wieder zurückführen kann. Der Held scheitert an dieser Mission. Er versucht nun, mit eigenen Mitteln ein Unternehmen ins Leben zu rufen, um, wie vielfach in der Geschichte, wo die berufenen Staatsmänner versagt haben, auf der Grundlage eigener Initiative sein schöpferisches Werk zur Geltung zu bringen. Bei diesen Bemühungen wird der Held von seinen eigenen Mitarbeitern in schnödester Weise verraten und betrogen. Müde, verdrossen, enttäuscht, will er den Kampf, bei dem ihm fast aus-schließlich seine treue verständnisvolle Gattin zur Seite steht, aufgeben. Er sieht keine Hoffnung mehr auf Erfüllung.
