After residing for two years near Quebec, he becamea missionary to the Hurons, with whom he remained until 1650 were hewitnessed the destruction of the Huron Missions by the Iroquois. Most ofthis book is devoted to the that mission and it comprises probably thebest single account of that tribe. Also includes are biographicalsketches of various Canadian missionaries, almost invariably ending intheir unfortunate deaths. It was originally published, in Italian, in1653, it has been translated into French by Father Felix Martin, aJesuit, along with an added biography of the author, notes andillustrations. Includes several period maps including New France (1660)and the Huron Missions. An excellant source for the early history of whatis now Ontario and Ohio.
