Stella was also a very early subscriber to the 'holistic' approach to wildlife conservation whereby the people living in the vicinity must benefit from the conservation effort if it is to be fully supported at the local level and so have a chance to be sustainable. . .

Mason Brewer. Thus the lore of the people was close at hand. Luther Brookes. She received the M. A. degree from the University of Michigan in 1930, and the Ph. D. degree from Cornell University in 1946.
