Print on Demand Edition 2013. (vi), 712 pp., index Willis Brewer, in this second comprehensive history of Alabama, created a work that Thomas M. Owen in his Bibliography (1898) called "the most valuable contribution to the history of the State yet made." In the first section of the book, he gives a brief historical review of the history of the state from 1540 to 1872 dealing with exploration, the Indians, natural resources, economic development, the territorial period, and state politics in general. In the second section entitled "The Counties of Alabama," Brewer presents the history of each county giving its creation, its location, its aboriginal history, its resources, names of county officials over the years, and approximately five hundred biographical sketches of prominent citizens. The third section entitled "The War Between the States," presents a brief sketch of each regiment of infantry and cavalry with the names of field officers, staff officers, captains, and the counties from which their companies came. Similar information is given for each battery. Campaigns and battles fought in are listed for the units. Brewer was a lawyer, farmer, and newspaper editor with an active interest in government and its people. He served in a variety of public offices.

The author delves into the similarities between the two cultures, examining deities and concepts that seemingly mirror each other. Drawing on linguistic similarities and historical context, the book argues for a significant Egyptian influence on Hebrew history and religion, challenging traditional perspectives on the origins of both. The author contends that the Bible's stories of the Exodus and Jesus may have Egyptian roots and that the Israelite religion was heavily influenced by the Egyptian pantheon, undermining long-held beliefs about these foundational narratives. This book provides a fresh and provocative perspective on the origins of Judeo-Christian tradition, offering insights for scholars and lay readers alike. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
