According to the blurb, the two volumes were originally planned to commemorate the seven-hundredth anniversary of Dante's birth in 1965. Its central feature is the catalogue, in Volume One, of 'al…l important more or less fully illustrated codices of Dante's poem.' This is followed by three essays by the authors already cited. Condition (dj): intact but faded in places with a number of closed tears. Condition (book): burnt orange cloth with gilt titles, set against a black background, is in a very sound state with only minor blemishes. Some marking of the top edge. Internally, there is mild tanning throughout, but the text remains clean and crisp; with the many b/w illustrations largely unaffected. pp. xx, 378. 4to Please note that, depending on destination, we may request a payment to cover any extra shipping & postage charges.
