Boudoir doll for display only. Made Exclusively of Porcelite. "Martha Curtis Washington (1731-1802): Administration: George Washington. Although Americas First Lady, it was a position she did not enjoy. Martha Washington came from one of the state of Virginias most prominent families. Mrs. Washington dressed simply and was often mistaken for the family maid. The mop cap she wore, was fashionable in the late eighteenth century. The First Lady herself made the brown satin bag she is holding. It was embroidered with the inscription "Worn by Genl. G & Mrs. Washington." - from the Brinn's label attached to the Porcelite doll.
