This copy is from the collection of Arthur Houghton Jr. (1906-1990) of Queenstown, Maryland. Laid-in is a Typed Letter to him on Bromer Booksellers letterhead, signed by the Bromers. Houghton was president of Steuben Glass and an arts patron who was chairman of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Philharmonic. Houghton served as curator of rare books at the Library of Congress in Washington until 1942 and then as an officer in the Army Air Corps in World War II for three years. Mr. Houghton, who was a member of more than 100 organizations dedicated to education and the arts, served on the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1952 to 1974. He was also a former vice president of the Pierpont Morgan Library. Biographical info is from his obituary in the New York Times. Fine condition in a Very Good clear plastic box. 1987. Beautifully illustrated with 35 full page, color plates. Binders from several nations are profiled. Among them are Michael Wilcox, James Brockman, Hugo Peller, Tini Miura, Zaehnsdorf Lmtd, etc. The collection was sold en bloc prior to publication. . With letter to Arthur Houghton Jr. First Edition.
