Halblederband der Zeit auf 5 Bünden mit Rückenvergoldung und Rückenschild sowie eingebundener vorderer Original-Broschur. - Gut erhaltenes Exemplar. Gilbert Georges Bruel (1871-1945) war ein französischer Geograph, Kolonialverwalter, Fotograf und Entdecker. Er studierte in Moulins, dann am Monge-Gymnasium in Paris und erhielt ein Diplom von der École Coloniale (1895). Er wurde nach Afrika geschickt und verbrachte dort seine gesamte Karriere. 1909 wurde er zum Direktor des Geographischen Dienstes von Französisch-Äquatorialafrika (AEF) ernannt, der gerade in Brazzaville gegründet worden war, verließ ihn jedoch 1911. Anschließend kehrte er nach Frankreich zurück, wo er Spezialist für die Geschichte und Geographie der AEF wurde. Neben zahlreichen Werken zu diesem Thema verdanken wir ihm auch die Karten und Hinweise zu diesem Gebiet im Atlas der französischen Kolonien von G. Grandidier. Sprache: französisch.
