Original buckram, blind frames to boards, large gilt arms of Great Britain below and blind-stamped owner name "Colonial Office Library" to front boards, blind rules and red and black calf lettering pieces to spines. Light soiling and moderate shelfwear, some fraying to foot of spine of Volume III, carbon-copy typescript notice authorizing the publication of this edition affixed to front pastedown. Light toning to interiors, small label indicating price of the set and another stating the books have been treated with a "poisonous solution" to prevent the "ravages of insects" to front pastedown of each volume. $250. * Fiji became a British colony in 1874 and an independent nation in 1970. These volumes, from the last pre-independence compilation, are the main component of a seven-volume set. The other volumes contain subsidiary legislation and an index.
