Buch. Condition: Neu. Neuware - Scripta Maneant is proud to present this 320-page magnum opus on the Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi, one of the most accomplished 17th-century artists and an icon among women artists of all time. Text in English and Italian.Italian baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 - 1653)… has been the subject of much attention in recent decades. In this most complete monograph to date, her success as an artist at a time when few women were allowed to paint professionally is revealed in previously unpublished attributions from private collections, featured alongside her best-known masterpieces. This beautiful volume of her work, photographed for the first time in high giga pixel resolution, includes more than 60 paintings spanning the full range of her career from age 15 in Rome to her death in Naples. Notably, the book includes a selection of letters Artemisia wrote which come from newly discovered and previously unpublished archival materials. One letter is shown in its original parchment form, showcasing her penmanship and style of writing. The National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, recently announced the acquisition of Magdalene in Ecstasy, a rare painting made around 1625 which was in a private collection for many years. It is reproduced in this volume. This book documents the exhibition Artemisia: Héroïne de l'art, which took place from 19 March-August 2025 at the Musée Jacquemart-André in Paris. Text in English and Italian.

Artemisia Gentileschi has been the subject of much attention in recent decades. Research dedicated to her has, however, often returned a stereotyped and reductive image of the artistic universe and p…ersonality of the painter. The innovative charge of language and the exceptional nature of Artemisia's iconographic choices reveal the documented interests and literary, scientific and musical frequentations that the painter skilfully cultivated in every city that recorded her passage. 0 g.

cartonato. Condition: nuovo. Bologna, 2025, Scripta Maneant.
