8 x 5", full leather with five raised bands, 617pp + Index + 50pp DE JURE REGNI APUD SCOTOS, Dialogus by Buchanano, covers a bit worn and chipped, extremities bumped, faded spine with vertical creasing through spine cover, hinges loose, front blank cut out, ink stamps from former (20th Century) owner, old ink writing on ffep, pp toned with some finger soiling, eps toned at edges else a decent copy of this fairly SCARCE book on the History of Scotland.

vellum. Condition: Very Good. 373, [3] pages, but lacking pp. 369-372 (no evidence of removal). Page 176 misnumbered. Five blanks at front, 6 at rear. Printed August 1571. 4.7 x 3.25 inches. Stiff vellum, with faint period title at head of spine and more recent leather label beneath. Soiling and chipping to title page, occasional unobtrusive tideline. Binding is sound.

Condition: Very Good. Early Edition. Orignal vellum cover with title and printing year written on the spine. Very minor wear to the title page obscure a few letters. Stamp of a previous owner on the inside cover. Text is clean and clear. The binding holds tight. Indications on front and back cover of straps present but straps are missing. Translated into Latin verse while Buchanan was in prison in Protugal, his translation of the Psalms was and is considered a masterpiece of Latin verse and was significantly influential for centuries after completion. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. No copy of Buchanan's History of the Kings of the Scots in Latin with its original leather binding. Very clean internally; externally, the main issue is some loss to top & bottom of the decorative spine (see photos). Extends to pp.700 + index. Small 8vo. Front flysheet bears oval stamp showing withdrawn from Queen's College, Cork. The initials A & R have been written either side of the frontis illustration but otherwise free of ownership marks etc. Language: eng Language: eng Language: eng.
