In 1936 he began writing and producing in Hollywood for Columbia, Warner Brothers, Universal Studios, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and 20th Century Fox. The idea for SIGRID AND THE SERGEANT evolved through a period of several years spent in Europe observing the U.S. Army in Germany. This humorous novel appears to be Bruckner's first novel.
