Paperback. Condition: Very Good. In Zurich in 1918 and 1919, the English painter Frank Budgen and Joyce met almost daily to walk, talk and drink wine. During these meetings they discussed "Ulysses", the novel Joyce was then writing. This book is a record of these conversations and a critical commentary on the work itself. It is reissued in its original form, together with the author's essay of 1939-41 on "Finnegans Wake", his obituary of Joyce and his "Further Recollections" of 1955. In his introduction the Joyce scholar Clive Hart draws on unpublished material to trace the history of the book and pays a personal tribute to Budgen. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 212 page hardcover with some photo illustrations. Memoir of English painter, merchant seaman, and friend of James Joyce. The dust jacket has light wear and a small clean tear at spine top. Book is good condition - but flawed by pencil lines in the margin on parts throughout the book that refer to James Joyce. Minimal except in the Chapter about Joyce. Early sections are in third person, each narrated by a different "self" - the nickname he had at that time in his life. Interesting memoir.
