Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. This is a rare copy of a book of poetry by Krantdaishi Pandurang Budhey, an Indian poet from Maharashtra, originally writing in Marathi, but who chose to change to English as the medium of his poetry. This book is "Chant and Incense", and, as the dust-jacket write-up states, was Budhey's "maiden venture into English". It was published in 1959 by Mrs. Kusum Budhey in Sitabuldi, Nagpar, India. The book has a brief introduction by Ranjee Shahani. On the rear cover Dr. Ranjee compares Budhey's poetry to Nietzsche's "Thus Spake Zarathustra", and Gibran's "The Prophet". This copy, which seems to be the only available specimen (at least on line) has the added attraction of having been inscribed and signed by Budhey to a colleague :: "With the author's compliments to Prof. Ronald E. Wolseley, Syracuse 10, N.Y. - K. P. Budhey, 28 ? 4 ? 1959" Professor Wolseley was an esteemed professor of Journalism at Syracuse University. There is also the inked signature of a second previous owner. TITLE : Chant and Incense AUTHOR : K. P.
