Subtitled "Properly Classed in Their Respective Families, Their Character and Mode of Culture, with Directions for Their Propagation, and the Destruction of Insects". Tightly bound in green blind-stamped cloth and gilded titles. The covers show a spine slant and edge wear. Heavy stains to the front and rear endpapers with some paper residue. The front endpaper has a 2" corner chip. Good only. The contents are tightly bound. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. There are no external indications of the library's ownership. A handwritten number and Mercantile Library stamp are on the title page and some of the internal pages.
