Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1971, 302pp, index, bibliography. VG+ in VG+ dj. This work first appeared in thirty installments in The Western Journal and Civilian, a St. Louis magazine, running from February, 1853 until December, 1855. It was to be a history of the area from the treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle, in 1748, to the Peace of Ghent, 1815. The work was cut short by the author's untimely death in a railroad disaster in 1855, thus the present volume covers the history only to 1791. Edited by G. Glenn Clift and Hambleton Tapp.
