The investigations were accomplished by measuring local and global drag, velocity profiles and by visualization of the flow above the surface. Flow visualization was carried out by using oil-film technique and velocity profile measurements to elucidate the observed effect, and hence present the mechanism responsible for theobserved drag reduction. Investigations on structured plates were performed with the help of hot wire anemometry and oil film interferometry.The main concern of the experiments on structured plates was to examine the effect of hexagonal structures on local and global drag of a structured plate. It was accomplished by determining and analyzing the boundary layer quantities like shear stress velocities, shear stress coefficients and momentum thicknesses over a selected Reynolds number range and various locations in streamwise direction. Finally, a number of configurations of a wind turbine made of smooth and structured blades were investigated to compare their efficiencies at various flow velocities.…

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Herleitung der nach ihm benannten Formel und vollzieht diesen Vorgang nach.Hertz kam am 22. Februar 1857 in Hamburg zur Welt. Er studierte an der Universität Berlin. Von 1885 bis 1889 lehrte er als Professor für Physik an der Technischen Hochschule in Karlsruhe. Hertz entdeckte in Karlsruhe mit dem ersten Hertzschen Oszillator die Existenz der Elektromagnetischen Wellen. Er wies nach, dass sie sich auf die gleiche Art und mit der gleichen Geschwindigkeit ausbreiten wie Lichtwellen. Er starb am 1. Januar 1894 in Bonn.Hertz verwendete die Formeln von Joseph Valentin Boussinesq als Basis, um die Pressung in zusammengedrückten Kugeln bestimmen zu können. Boussinesq war ein französischer Mathematiker und Physiker (geb. am 13. März 1842). Von 1872 bis 1886 war er Professor für Differenzial und Integralrechung in Lille. Dies erstreckt sich von der Vernetzung, die sinnvollen Aufbringung von Randbedingungen auf das zu berechnende Strömungsfeld, bis hin zur Berechnung und der anschließenden Darstellung der Ergebnisse. Die Geometrie wird allerdings erst in Pro-Engineer oder einem ähnlichen Programm erzeugt und dann in CFdesign importiert. Die Bedienung dieses Programms setzt also CAD-Kenntnisse voraus. Zur Validierung der numerischen Ergebnisse werden Handberechnungen durchgeführt und die beiden Ergebnisse miteinander verglichen. Um die Zuverlässigkeit der Handberechnungen zu gewährleisten, werden zusätzlich die qualitativen Lösungen aus der Literatur herangezogen.Numerische Simulationen finden in den ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Bereichen immer mehr an Bedeutung, da sich die Leistungsfähigkeit bei gleichzeitiger Verbesserung der Softwarebedienung stetig steigert. Die im Rahmen der Arbeit angewandte Software CFdesign kann Berechnungen im Bereich der Strömungssimulation durchführen.
