Add to basketEngraved map with hand colouring 24.5 x 37" Very fine condition with couple of repairs in margin only. (MCS 16) This is the second state of two. Bequia, the northernmost of the Grenadines was one of the 'ceded' islands acquired by Britain through the Treat of Paris, 1763. The island is shown divided into 36 tracts, 17 claimed by owners, mostly French planters whose claims predated 1763 but with 19 identified as being unclaimed. This was one of four maps produced by Byres of the 'ceded' islands. It is arguably the most significant, as it is one of only three separately printed maps of Bequia, and by far the most detailed. Only a handful of copies of either editions of the map are found in institutions, and it rarely comes onto the market.
